Her nomination for the Academy Award was her most famous role. As a child of a film family, Hudson seemed to be headed to be in the spotlight in her early years. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actor , and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. From an early age she was a performer and would jump at any chance to perform on stage. Parents made sure that she had dancing instruction, and she did her training at the Santa Monica Playhouse when she was a kid. She started acting when she was offered a guest role in the TV drama Party of Five in 1996. The show was a success and she was admitted to New York University, but Kate Hudson was more interested in getting into show business instead of pursuing a degree. After acting in a few small films She was then offered the role that would prove to be her big break in her career. She was chosen to play Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. In spite of being a box office disappointment it received positive reviews from critics and made a name for Kate as an actress within the American film industry.
