April Ross
April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball stars to win medals at multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian who will be joining her in Tokyo. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic gold. At 39 this may be her final chance to do so. However, she's convinced that top prizes can be achieved. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all they could win a gold. Also, I'll take the chance to have chance. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister lived in the area. Her athletic career began at Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball along with basketball, track and running. But she stood out during this game. As per her biography her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). Her achievements were rewarded when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. Her skills in volleyball earned her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play in 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball before the pairing. It's true that she's won multiple big tournaments and one of them was a volleyball superstar. From 2007 until 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Together together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 when she competed in the international circuit. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded a gold medal. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement when she retired. They went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans of USC in her college after graduating from the high school she attended. She had a great run in the college. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. Her sophomore year was the time she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the top of the mountain by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to witness her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. When Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and dear. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her at and off the beaches.
